The BBQ has become an annual event with BARC/HBARC members

More 2007

A mountain trip and WICEN field Training

A working bee to paint the shack roof

All looks neat and trim

It's still a great view from up there

The area is cleared for another year

And now it's time for a cuppa

VK4FKEV & VK4JM carried a new battery up the mountain trailr

WICEN training was a regular event

Theory and message handling at the SES clubroom

There was a field exercise at Avondale

Map reading work

Much discussion on the map coordinates

Each team worked map reading into practical pathfinding

Followed by some field work

The Back Story

Next thing we knew it was xmas 2007. VK4HER, VK4CAB & VK4JJ

A big year, workshops, working bees & dinners

Guest speaker Wayne Honor at the AGM

An Antenna Analyzer workshop

Then there was a BALUN workshop

Making 4:1 & 1:1 BALUN's from ferrite cores

Not all Members arrived by land!

Bob VK4UD was very excited

Chit chat was clearly the order of the day

August rolled around and it was time to visit Burnett Heads

We connect antennae to the Historical Lighthouse

Set up a station under a tarp

Play radio in the International Lighthouse &Lightship Weekend

The pump-up mast held one end of the dipole

A dipole ran from the mast back to the lighthouse

It was time to head to Mt Goonaneman for a working bee

While Kev VK4FKEV took care of the grounds maintenance

The tower crew received their instructions

Climb the 30 metre tower

All the way to the top and remove a damaged vertical antenna

Lightning had damaged the vertical

Lightning caused this damage

Rockhampton club came for a visi

A spot of morning tea and tour of SES HQ

Then it was on to a long luncheon

Lunch with the RADAR mob at the RSL club

We got everyone back to the station

A last group shot before we poured them onto the Tilt Train

A mid year dinner - Xmas in June

Someone is a winner.. wine anyone?

The next thing we knew it was Xmas again

So off to another dinner

Some took the games very seriously

And that was the end of 2008

2009 Activities

Party with HBARC, resurrect fox hunting & upgrade equipment

Presidents Wade VK4WM & Rusty VK4JM each with a death grip on the Pat Dryden Trophy

The members recognised a great supporter Dennis VK4SX received Honorary Life Membership

There was the annual BBQ with Hervey Bay club

We went to dinner in June at the Isis club in Childers

New ICOM FR3000 VHF repeater arrived

A site visit to Mt Watalgan intended site of a new UHF repeater for the club's WICEN network

RADAR (Rocky) club came to visit again

After a quick morning tea

We toured the Bert Hinkler aviation museum

It's a brilliant museum with interactive features

Then off to the RSL club for lunc

Gifts of great value were exchanged

We heard the RADAR folks were big drinkers so we stocked up

We got them safely to the train and waved goodbye until next time

It was xmas again and another dinner together

Our final 2009 outing
