So what's the answer? Do you want to know more ?

BYEG is a new course sponsored by the club for Bundaberg Youth. As long as you're a high school student and your parents will sign a permission form, then you can come along.

What will we teach you?

Well for a start each Saturday will be a mix of electronics theory and practical sessions.

You will learn to use a soldering station : Learn to use mutli meters and understand what you're reading: Work out the values of resistors and capacitors and use them with Transistors and I.C.'s.

You can also make your own circuit board designs and if you want, you can build an electronics Kit through to completion?

How long will the course run?

We expect each course to run for 6 Saturdays but if we have enough students with projects to finish we can extend for another couple of Saturdays.

It's going to be up to you, the group members if you'd like an extra week or two.

What's it going to cost?

At this stage we're anticipating $2.50 per week to attend the class. You don't have to pay up front, just pay each week you attend.

The Bundaberg Amateur Radio Club will supply basic course materials for you to practice with but if you want to build a Kit from the electronics store - then you would purchase that Kit yourself. How's that sound for a fair deal?

We've asked Jaycar and Dick Smith Electronics in Bundaberg about a discount and both have assured us they will take good care of our students who buy kits and bits.

Now down to Business: What do you do now ?

Step 1.

If you follow this link to the permission form you can print it and show your parents. If they are comfortable with the fact that you will be attending Saturday classes and that you will be using hand tools - like drills and soldering stations, then they need to sign the form. [which you must bring to the first class]

Step 2.

Send an email and tell us YES - you're interested and want to join a Course and give us all your contact details so we can ring or email you with starting date, times etc.

Send an email to: email

Classes will be held on Saturday Mornings at the PCYC

Bundaberg Amateur Radio Club has experienced trainers* available to take the classes

*All instructors are BARC Club members and hold current QLD Youth Protective Services "Bluecard"
